Penetration depth is calculated at the distance from the active side of the magnet when the field transitions from an inhomogeneous field to a homogeneous field. See magnetic field gradient description for more in depth information.

Pull force is calculated by measuring the force and weight required to dislodge the magnet from a large block of steel.
